  • Account information: name, email address, and authentication credentials when you create an account (directly or via Google/Apple sign-in).
  • Photos: images of bookshelves you upload for scanning.
  • Library data: books you save, reading status, and preferences.
  • Payment information: processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns.
  • Device information: browser type, operating system, and screen resolution.
  • Log data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • Identify books from your uploaded photos using AI.
  • Generate personalized book recommendations and AI-powered insights.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmations, receipts).
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Service providers: Google Cloud (hosting & AI), Stripe (payments), Firebase (authentication). These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
  • Legal requirements: when required by law, subpoena, or government request.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. AI Processing

When you scan a bookshelf, your photo is sent to Google’s Gemini AI for text recognition and book identification. Photos are processed in real time and are not retained by the AI service after processing. AI-generated recommendations are based on your library data and preferences.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Uploaded photos used for scanning are deleted after processing is complete.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, secure authentication via Firebase, and access controls on our cloud infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Request data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

9. Cookies & Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use local storage for app preferences and offline functionality. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. If analytics or advertising pixels are added in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

11. International Users

Your data is processed and stored in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
